Midlands Co-op Eases Families Through the Probate Process
Midlands Co-op Funeral Services has teamed up with Independent Trust Corporation (itc) to help guide bereaved families through the legal process of Probate.
Traditionally, the funeral director’s role is complete after the funeral itself, but for the grieving family there are still a few legal hurdles to overcome, including administering the deceased’s estate. Midlands Co-op is now able to help families through this process and hopefully relieve some of the pressure at this difficult time.
Paul Webb, head of Midlands Co-op’s Funeral Business, said: “When someone dies, the task of administering the deceased’ estate often falls to family or friends and it can be quite daunting. By joining forces with itc, the largest specialist Probate provider in the UK, we are pleased to be able to extend our care and support service.”
Grant McKerron, itc CEO, said: “We are delighted to be working in partnership with Midlands Co-op, playing an integral part in the aftercare and support of the bereaved. I would also like to take this opportunity to thank Midlands Co-op for sponsoring the Bereavement Advice Centre, which we have established to provide support for both carers and the bereaved.
“The Bereavement Advice Centre supports and advises the bereaved on the practical issues when someone dies. Although there are many outstanding counselling groups that provide specialist support, the bereaved too often end up getting lost in a maze of bureaucracy when dealing with the more practical issues, at what is already a very stressful time. The Bereavement Advice Centre can help with practical issues including; registering a death, finding a funeral director, probate and other legal procedures, financial requirements, tax issues and counsellors.”
